1. Lauren Bloxham<br />March 23rd, 2009.<br />Group 4 Project: Reflection<br />In the beginning, I did not know what to expect from this Group 4 Project. This project was unfamiliar to us because it was our very first time doing it. I was kind of pleased the topic was on Global Warming because I am taking IB Environmental Systems right now and I could relate somewhat to the topic chosen for this year’s Group 4 Project.<br />We chose deforestation and Green Panther Actions for our topics for this G4 Project. On the work day, we gathered data and interviewed Dr. Ugo for some information about the new buildings. Before the work day, we interviewed Mr. Dyke as well because he is mainly in charge of the Green Panthers. After we gathered all the necessary data, we divided the tasks individually. We then worked on our assigned tasks and we talked to the other people in the group if each of us had problems or questions.<br />From this G4 project, I have learned many interesting facts about deforestation and the Green Panther Actions. For deforestation, the part I did was organizations that help fight against deforestation. I learned about new organizations such as Conservation International and Arbor Day Foundation. For the Green Panther Actions, I learned many facts about the organization. I learned how they plant trees to offset the flights taken by students to WWW or sports exchanges. I also learned about how they changed the printer paper to Double A instead of American Sized paper which helps with the CO2 emission because they don’t have to import them. The most interesting fact I learned during this G4 project was the interview with Dr. Ugo. He told us about the new green building that is being built at the moment. I thought what they are doing to make the building more environmental friendly is very interesting such as making the walls thicker and changing the A/C system. However, we decided not to do the new green building because it does not directly relate to the Green Panther Actions. <br />From this G4 Project, each of us learned a lot from collecting the data and interviewing people such as Mr. Dyke and Dr. Ugo. I think this project is really helpful in make us become more awareness about the environment and the impact of emitting CO2 into the atmosphere.<br />
